New Year = New Creations

2014 went by in a flash. I took a lot of photos throughout the year but not nearly as much as I would have liked. This year, that is going to change. I’m very excited to begin enriching my creative side a bit more this year. By doing so, I’ll grow as an artist and an aspiring professional!

In 2015, I am striving to:

  1. Sharpen my photography + creative skills
  2. Read more books
  3. Begin an amazing career after I graduate in May

I figured that some new toys to help achieve my resolutions were well-deserved, especially after getting straight A’s in the fall semester! I’ve been itching to delve into portrait photography and invested in a spiffy new camera lens specifically for beautiful portraits. When I take it out for a spin, you’ll certainly find the photos here or on my Flickr.

For some added inspiration, I indulged in one of my favorite outings: browsing bargain bookstores! I visited Iliad Bookshop and spent the majority of my visit perusing the photography and travel/global shelves (I have an addiction to nonfiction). I walked out of the shop with Travel Writing by L. Peat O’Neil and The World Atlas of Street Photography by Jackie Higgins–all for under $20! I can’t wait to read them!

When I got home, my mom told me her workplace was liquidating its library and had boxes of books to take. She brought me Hippo in a Tutu: Dancing in Disney Animationa book highlighting the importance of dance in Disney Animation. I picked up Dream it! Do It! by Marty Sklar at a discount Disney store.

My shopping haul could be simply described as: Books, travel, photography, and Disney. If you could narrow down my interests into just a few words, it would definitely be those!

Although I won’t be interning this semester, I intend on spending a lot of time writing, shooting, and figuring out what career steps I will be taking after graduation. My dream is to take on a role or opportunity that allows me to practice my PR prowess and my creative side. Maybe working on my resolutions will help me get me a few steps closer to it!

Happy new year, and thanks for joining me on my journey! What goals have you set for yourself this year?
